THE WORCESTERSHIRE County Schools’ FA U14 and U16 girls’ football teams ended their season on a high with a presentation evening held at Studley Road Social Club in Redditch.
Guest of honour was Birmingham City Ladies star and PFA Young Player of the Year Jess Carter who showed her support for representative schools football by handing out awards and being an inspiring role model.
The 19-year-old shared her journey through sport and emphasised how important it is to balance education and sport as they both go hand in hand in order to experience success.
Both county squads have had tremendous seasons, with both reaching the last four of their respective English Schools’ FA Inter-County Cups.
As well as competing domestically, girls from the U16s had the opportunity to play in the number one youth tournament in the USA over Christmas when they competed in the Disney Soccer Showcase in Orlando, Florida.
Girls from the U14s will have the opportunity to compete in the Gothia World Youth Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, later this month.
The awards evening was an opportunity to celebrate the sterling efforts of every single player who has represented the county this season. All players received a memento from the season to recognise their effort and commitment to representative schools football.
