WORCESTER Wolves have boosted their squad as they step up their pursuit of the BBL Championship title with the re-signing of forward Kai Williams.

Williams had a successful spell with Worcester last season and his signing follows his recent departure from Wolves’ BBL rivals Cheshire Phoenix.

The signing was announced during Friday’s home win against Surrey United in which Williams, who is measured 6ft 6ins, scored a three-pointer with his first touch of the ball.

Kai now joins up with his elder brother Jamal Williams who currently is out on the sidelines through injury.

Worcester Wolves director of basketball Paul James said he was delighted to bring Kai back into the squad.

“When I knew Kai was available, it was an easy call to discuss him coming back to Worcester,” he said.

“It’s great to have him back. He’ll be an extra threat for us from the perimeter. We all know what he brought to the team last year, so if he can do that again for the remainder of the season it will certainly help us.”

Williams said he was excited to be back with the Wolves team.

“I’m happy to be back and looking forward to the season,” he added. “Everyone is really talented on this team and obviously playing alongside my brother is something very special and I’m fortunate to have that opportunity.

“The way this team is set up with guys like Alex, Zaire, Will and Andreas demanding a lot of attention, makes it easier to play out there.”
