WORCESTER Warriors have announced the signing of Samoa tighthead prop James Johnston.
The club announced earlier today (Wednesday) they have signed the big forward to bolster their options in the front row, and he will be joining the squad immediately.
Johnston is an experienced Aviva Premiership campaigner having amassed 104 appearances while plying his trade for Saracens and Harlequins, before a short stint at Wasps.
He made the move to England in 2009 from New Zealand outfit Ponsonby, enjoying a four year spell with Quins where he made 102 appearances.
The 29-year-old then spent two seasons at Saracens playing 51 times where they reached the Aviva Premiership final in 2013/14, before going on to win the competition in 2014/15.
The Auckland-born tighthead also has 14 international appearances to his name with Samoa, bagging a try against Japan on his debut back in 2008, and has also featured for the illustrious Barbarians.
Warriors Director of Rugby Dean Ryan said: “The scrum is an area where we’ve lacked a bit of experience so we’re delighted James has agreed to be a part of our journey.
“He has a wealth of top-class Premiership and European game-time under his belt and will add great depth to our front row.”
