WARRIORS have announced the signing of Samoa international Alafoti Faosiliva ahead of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership campaign.

The back row, who is the Sixways outfit’s seventh new signing, can also play at number eight and joins the club after spells at European giants Toulon and Premiership rivals Bath, where he spent three seasons.

The flanker spent much of his early career on the international sevens circuit and was part of the Samoa side that won the IRB Sevens World Series in 2009/10.

The 30-year-old powerhouse has 18 international caps to his name, with two of those coming at last year’s Rugby World Cup and his most recent appearance for Samoa came in the win over Tonga during June’s Pacific Nations Cup.

Faosiliva said: “Warriors are an ambitious club with a clear vision, which is something that really appealed to me.

“The set-up at Sixways is fantastic and everything is in place for you to succeed as a professional rugby player.

“I can’t wait to get started and I’m hungry to get out there and compete for my place in the team.”

Head coach Carl Hogg said: “Alafoti is a great athlete and his versatility will add greater strength and depth to our back row.

“He’s a big ball-carrier with international experience. Those are key attributes which will stand him in good stead ahead of the new campaign, so we’re excited about seeing what he can do out on the pitch.”
