WARRIORS have signed a second player from Jersey Reds in a matter of days, having secured the Championship side’s lock Pierce Phillips ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The 24-year-old, who stands at a colossal 6ft 8ins, has started in all 48 appearances he has made for Channel Islands club to date.

Phillips had spells at Darlington Mowden Park and in the Yorkshire Carnegie academy, before moving to Jersey.

He has also represented England Counties.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Jersey, but I’m looking forward to a new challenge with Warriors,” said Phillips.

“Sixways has an incredible set-up where players have everything in place to reach their potential and that’s exactly what I hope to do when I move to Worcester this summer.

“The club also have a great vision and I’m hoping I can play a part in helping them reach their long-term goal of becoming a top-end side,” he added.

Director of Rugby Gary Gold said: “Pierce is a promising young talent and he’ll provide stiff competition in the second row.

“Having led Jersey in the Championship, he’s already shown he has leadership qualities and I’m sure he’ll be a fantastic addition to the squad.”
