Warriors to face Munster and Jersey in pre-season

WARRIORS will travel to Ireland and Jersey as part of their pre-season tour ahead of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership campaign.

The Sixways outfit will fly to Jersey to take on the Greene King IPA Championship side on Saturday, August 20, before travelling across the Irish Sea to face Guinness PRO12 outfit Munster on Friday, August 26.

Warriors last faced Jersey in March 2015, during their promotion-winning campaign back to the Premiership, in a game which ended with the Islanders snatching victory with a late drop-goal.

The club will face Munster at Irish Independent Park in Cork, where a host of new faces including Ben Te’o and Jackson Willison will have an opportunity to pull on the Warriors jersey before the competitive action gets under way in September.

Director of rugby Dean Ryan said: “Jersey is a tough place to go as we found out during the 2014/15 Championship season, so it’ll be a challenge for us to go overseas and apply ourselves against a well-drilled side.

“Also, taking on a strong European side like Munster is exactly the kind of test we need to prepare ourselves for the new Premiership campaign.”
