RYAN Lamb believes Worcester Warriors have the potential to surprise a few people in the Aviva Premiership this season.
Warriors will begin their campaign tomorrow (Friday) with a home clash against Northampton Saints who finished top of the table last season.
And Lamb, who dispatched a last-gasp conversion to secure Worcester’s place in the top flight, is confident his side will be able to go toe-to-toe with the league’s heavyweights.
“I am massively excited,” Lamb said. “It is good that we can now test ourselves against the best sides in England.
“We are very confident in what we are doing. We have had a long pre-season, so we have had a lot of preparation and hopefully we can compete and maybe surprise a few people.”
Lamb said he has also been impressed with the squad director of rugby Dean Ryan has assembled for this season.
“I think there is a very good blend of youth and experience,” he said. “I think the late additions that Dean has made with (Wynand) Olivier and Donncha O’Callghan coming in are big signings for us.
“It will be good to have that experience around the squad.
“We have also got the youthful exuberance with Ben Howard and Max Stelling, so it is exciting times.”
Lamb added: “I think it will be good to see Cooper Vuna in the Premiership.
“Everyone knows he is a clinical finisher and he was fantastic in the Championship, so it will be good to see if he can step up and do it in the Prem.”
