VIDEO: Ryan left stunned after Warriors' fightback

A STUNNED Dean Ryan addresses the media after Worcester Warriors’ sensational comeback in the Greene King IPA Championship play-off final on Wednesday night.

Bristol were leading 30-16 with ten minutes remaining before Worcester conjured up two converted tries – the second coming with 20 seconds left – to seal their place in the Aviva Premiership.

Warriors boss Ryan described the final 20 minutes as the ‘weirdest’ he had witnessed and admitted Bristol were the better side on the night.

“I am little bit shocked because I didn’t really see that coming,” Ryan said. “I thought Bristol’s back row were outstanding and we could not handle them.

“They kept coming and coming and the pressure eventually told with Cooper (Vuna) going off with a yellow card and then they had a free run.

“Once Cooper was back on, we understood that we needed to get field position and if we could do that we could get the drive going.

“We got it and then everybody knew we needed one more try and we have got this.

“Sport is bloody cruel. That’s happened to me about three or four times when I have been part of the better side and I thought Bristol were the better side tonight.

“I really feel for everyone of them and I know a lot of them, but at the moment it is our turn, it is our turn to have that piece of luck.”
