Te'o hoping England training camp leads to Six Nations return

CENTRE Ben Te’o will have hoped to have impressed England head coach Eddie Jones at a two-day training camp ahead of the 2018 NatWest Six Nations Championship.

The British and Irish Lions centre was one of 34 players who took part in the England training camp on Monday and yesterday in Brighton.

Te’o, who is still recovering from an ankle injury he picked up in Warriors’ European Challenge Cup win over Brive in October, is hoping to be fit ahead of England’s opener against Italy on Sunday, February 4 in Rome.

The 30-year-old burst on to the international stage for England when he made his debut against South Africa in 2016’s Autumn Internationals, before featuring against Fiji and Australia.

He also played a key role in England’s Six Nations-winning side last spring, scoring the match-winning try against France and another in his only start against Italy, as England went on to equal New Zealand’s 18-match winning run.

The England squad for the Six Nations will be announced on Thursday, January 18, before Jones takes the side on a week-long training camp to Portugal three days later.
