EXCITING fly half Tiff Eden will be hoping to shine when he makes his first competitive start for Worcester Warriors as they take on Nottingham at Sixways tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

The academy ace’s inclusion in director of rugby Dean Ryan’s first 15 comes after his impressive showing for Worcester Cavaliers on Monday.

Their scintillating 52-21 victory over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road has also led to the selection of centre Max Stelling and lock Darren O’Shea, who will make his Warriors debut after joining from Munster this summer.

Head coach Carl Hogg described the first half showing at Leicester, which saw Cavs rack up seven tries, as “absolutely outstanding” and he said he was delighted to see his players press their case for a starting jersey.

“The players who played on Monday night did themselves huge credit and some of those guys have been promoted off the back of their performances,” he said.

“That’s huge for the club as we want healthy competition for places at first-team level and the guys on Monday night have provided that.”

Other changes to the side which thumped Doncaster Knights 32-16 last week, sees Jonny Arr return at scrum half, while Dan George has been given the nod ahead of Niall Annett at hooker.

Max Cox has also come back into the team at flanker as Warriors look to secure a third successive victory in the Greene King IPA Championship. But Hogg insisted Worcester would need to be at their best against a Nottingham side who have also won two out of their first three league games.

“The last two or three weeks have shown us that the Championship is not a competition that you can take lightly and we need to embrace the challenge of every week,” Hogg said.

“Nottingham are playing some attractive rugby. They are playing with a bit of width and ambition and they pose a different challenge to Moseley and Doncaster so we will need to be diligent and right on the mettle to be able to compete.

“Not every team presents the same questions or play the same way so our ability to go out and manage the contest is a really good learning curve for us.”

Warriors’ side to face Nottingham: Howard, Smith, Stelling, Symons, Biggs, Eden, Arr, Bower, George, Schonert, Percival, O’Shea, Williams, Cox, Van Velze (C)

Replacements: Annett, Daniels, Rapava Ruskin, Sanderson, Mulchrone, Mieres, Grove
