Stade Francais for European starters

Worcester Editorial 22nd Aug, 2018   0

WORCESTER Warriors will begin their 2018/19 European Challenge Cup campaign with a trip across the channel to tackle Stade Francais Paris.

With six pool games to play, there will be some mouth-watering clashes as Warriors occupy Pool 2 with Ospreys, Pau and 2016/17 European Challenge Cup champions Stade Francais.

Warriors impressed in the competition last year, sweeping aside French pair Brive and Oyonnax at home while playing out an entertaining draw with Connacht Rugby but defeat in their last pool game at Brive meant they were pipped to the quarter-finals of the competition. And this year they’ll face a tough opening as they visit Stade Jean Bouin to take on the 2014/15 French Top 14 champions.

In the first home European outing, Warriors welcome Welsh region Ospreys to Sixways on Saturday, October 20 before back-to-back clashes with Pau in December, in the south of France on December 7 before the return at Sixways on Saturday, December 15

The second week of January will bring the all-important final pool fixtures as Warriors travel to Ospreys before hosting Stade Francais.
