WORCESTER Wolves have re-signed Spanish forward Alejandro Navajas for a second season.
The 6ft 7in player helped the University of Worcester Arena side to the British Basketball League (BBL) play-off semi-final, after the team enjoyed a 16-game unbeaten run towards the end of the 2016/17 campaign to finish fifth in the league.
He previously experienced success with Spanish second division side Marin, helping them secure the league and cup double in the 2015/16 season.
Navajas said: “I’m happy to be back and be part of this wonderful organisation. I hope we can celebrate a title with our fans this upcoming season. Let’s go Wolves!”
Dale Ryan, the University of Worcester’s director of basketball, said: “We’re very pleased Alejandro has made the decision to return for another season with the club.
“His performance, especially throughout the second half of last season and during the play-offs, was a key factor in many of our wins and overall success.
“We’ll be looking for Alejandro to bring leadership, his trademark physical defence and propensity for making big game shots as we endeavour to bring a championship back to Worcester.
“I’m sure I share the sentiments of fans in welcoming Alejandro back to the Wolves and the Wolfpack family.”
Navajas is the second player to return to the club, after Ashton Khan recently re-signed for his third season.
They join new recruit Brandon Parrish for the 2017/18 BBL campaign.
Wolves kick-off the new season against London Lions at the University of Worcester Arena on Friday, September 29 (tip off 7.30pm).
