Snape snaps up ex-Wolves men

WORCESTER City boss John Snape has bolstered his squad with the additions of two former Wolverhampton Wanderers players.

After star striker Dave Reynolds departed the Blue and Whites for Southern Premier Central outfit Redditch United, Snape has acted fast to bring in new recruits.

Forward Bradley Reid has joined from Stourbridge on a dual registration deal while right-sided Josh Hesson has signed following his release from Wolves.

Former Wolves and Wrexham striker Reid joined the Glassboys in July following his release from Tamworth.

Reid, who has played for the Wales U19 and U21 sides, netted six times for the Lambs in a stop-start campaign as he was unable to nail down a regular starting place.

The 22-year-old originally came through the youth ranks at Wrexham and his impressive showings at a young age earned him a move to Wolves in September for a fee reported to be around the £200,000 mark.

Reid could not quite break into the first team picture at Molineux but did make an appearance in the EFL Trophy during the 2016/17 campaign.

While at Wolves, Reid spent two loan spells at Wrexham as well as two stints at AFC Telford United.

Meanwhile, Hesson has joined the Blue and Whites after being released by Wolves – a club he has been at since the age of seven.

A move to League One outfit Sunderland fell through during the summer so Hesson found himself as a free agent.

After making contact with City after hearing they had signed another ex-Wolves player in Adam Osbourne, Snape moved quickly to secure a deal for the versatile 19-year-old who can play as a right-back or a right wing-back.

He can also play further up the field.

City turn their attentions back to the Midland League Premier Division this afternoon when they make the trip to Walsall Wood in the hope of extending their unbeaten league run to ten games.

The two sides know each other well having met in the FA Cup back in August, with Walsall prevailing 3-2 on penalties in an extra preliminary round replay.

Snape’s men made it nine games unbeaten in the league on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at home to Lye Town.

Chris Withington gave City the lead in the 57th minute before Jason Wood equalised for the visitors six minutes later.
