NEW franchise Severn Stars have secured their final five signings to complete their line-up ahead of the 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague.

The Worcester-based club have added Trinidad and Tobago international Afeisha Noel and Australian international Josie Janz-Dawson to the squad, along with University of Worcester student Iona Darroch and Superleague players Lucy Richardson and Rachel Sweet.

Darroch, a first-year illustration student, was in the Manchester Thunder Netball Performance League squad and is part of the England Under-21s team, whilst defensive player Sweet, who grew up in Worcester and has played for the Worcester Reds, joins from Superleague outfit Loughborough Lightning.

Aussie star Janz-Dawson has played for the Perth-based West Coast Fever in the ANZ Championship, the premier netball league for Australia and New Zealand, for the past nine years.

Noel boasts an impressive CV having played in the World Cup last year for Trinidad and Tobago and the Commonwealth Games in 2013, while Richardson joins from Superleague side Yorkshire Jets and has won two British Universities and Colleges Sport championships with Leeds Beckett University.

Severn Stars head coach Mo’onia Gerrard said: “We’ve secured some great experienced players for our 2017 roster. They have the right attitude to build this club in the right direction.”

The Vitality Netball Superleague kicks off in February.
