Senior Cup on the agenda as City take on Redditch

WORCESTER City’s bid for silverware this season continues tonight (Tuesday) when they make the short trip to Redditch United in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The Blue and Whites head to The Valley Stadium on the back of a 2-0 victory at Colwyn Bay on Saturday and will be looking to add the trophy to the cabinet for the first time since 1997.

Manager Carl Heeley will have Daniel Nti back for the clash after the striker missed the win in North Wales through suspension, but experienced defender Wayne Thomas will serve the second of his two game ban tonight.

Youngsters Connor Collins and Dean Waldron could get the nod upfront and in midfield respectively, as both look to stake a claim for a regular berth in the starting XI while winger Micah Evans will be keen to get another start under his belt following his impressive debut at the weekend.

Redditch, however, harbour play-off ambitions of their own as they currently sit in eighth place in the Southern League Premier Division.

Liam McDonald’s men have gone off the boil of late though and haven’t tasted victory since January 17, when they beat Poole Town 1-0. They have lost three and drawn one of the following four games.

The winners will play Kidderminster Harriers in the final.
