Search continues for new chief executive

INTERIM chief executive Anthony Glossop has said he will not be taking on the job full-time as the search continues for a new man at the helm.

Glossop has taken on the temporary position at Sixways since Warriors sacked Charles Cameron in February.

But he told The Observer he and the rest of the board were still fully focused on finding a new person to undertake the role of chief executive at Sixways.

Glossop admitted they had intended to get someone in place in the summer, but he said they were now hopeful of filling the vacancy before the end of the season.

“I have had the role since February which is far longer than I would have hoped to have had it,” he said.

“We are being picky on who we are looking for. We have got a very professional firm of people looking and I am hopeful we will find somebody.

“We have not found the right person yet, but we have got some irons in the fire at the moment.”

Cameron lasted just nine months in the position after Glossop said the former healthcare boss lost the confidence of the board.

But the former chairman of property developer St Modwen insisted they had created a different job description this time around.

“Firstly, this is a leadership role. Although you have a shareholder and a non-executive board, the person who is chief executive is within the club and running it,” he said.

“The next thing is commercial. As we have Dean (Ryan) and a very talented team we don’t want someone over here saying I am a better director of rugby as that would be counter-productive.

“We also need someone who understands fan engagement.

“The first time we went around we went out with a broader brief and we had perhaps not nailed that issue quite so much, so the ingredients now are leadership, commercial and a real understanding of sport and leisure.”
