Ryan: Let's show Chiefs our progress

WARRIORS’ Director of Rugby Dean Ryan has urged his side to show the progress they have made during their record-breaking run when they travel to Exeter.

The Sixways outfit make the journey to Sandy Park on Saturday on the back of their fourth consecutive Aviva Premiership win at the weekend – the first time the club has achieved the feat in the top flight.

Saturday’s 12-6 victory over London Irish in front of the BT Sport cameras completed a marvellous March for Warriors which saw them record wins over Newcastle, Gloucester and Harlequins in the weeks prior.

With the club now 16 points above the relegation zone, Ryan is looking forward to seeing if his side can match their upward progress against the second placed Chiefs.

“We have to change the history of this club to change its trajectory. We’re not setting records on how many games we can win consecutively, but trying to help this club travel in a different direction,” Ryan said.

“To do that we need growth and people within to guide the club. I think we’ve got those assets and I’m delighted for the fans that we’re starting to look like a side that is competing at the highest end.

“We still have a lot of work to do but four wins and a fifth out of six is a great credit to our players.

“But things are going to get tougher now, especially with the trip to Exeter at the weekend.

“They’re one of the best sides in the Premiership so we’ll be relishing the challenge to show how good we can be.

“They were a lot faster in thought when we played them at Sixways but since then we’ve shown what progress we’re making as a club.

“Now we’ve got to show we can perform at that level away from home against a side as good as Exeter,” he added.

Warriors’ clash against Chiefs kicks-off at 3pm.
