JAKE Garside scored a try with the final play of the game as Worcester Warriors claimed a dramatic 17-15 win away at Caldy.

Garside scored two late tries to turn the game in Worcester’s favour after Warriors trailed by eight points at the interval at Paton Field.

Matt Everard’s side struck in the first half courtesy of Will Biggs’ converted try while Caldy crossed twice before the break to lead at the interval.

However, Warriors kept Caldy at bay in the second period and stole the points at the death as Garside touched down twice in the final six minutes.

And the result means Worcester move up to second in the Champ Rugby table, seven points behind leaders Ealing Trailfinders.

The game marked the first-ever meeting between the two clubs with Caldy unbeaten at home heading into the fixture.

And Caldy scored the game’s first try after just six minutes as Rhys Tudor received Will Robinson’s pass and strode over the line to score.

However, Worcester responded five minutes later when Biggs crossed from a driving maul and Tiff Eden added the extras.

The home side reclaimed the lead just past the quarter-hour mark as Kieran Wilkinson kicked a penalty while the visitors saw a second try ruled out for a double movement.

And Caldy stretched their lead on 24 minutes when Charlie Hyde dislodged the ball in a tackle and picked up the pieces to score.

Warriors twice went close before the interval as Garside almost grounded a grubber kick while Will Lane just failed to hold onto Owain Evans’ pass following a break.

Caldy almost extended their lead early in the second period only for Wilkinson’s penalty attempt to hit the post – a miss which would prove costly.

And the home side lost Tom Sanders to the sin-bin on the hour mark for an off-the-ball tackle.

Caldy held firm during the sin-bin period to remain two scores ahead as the home side held up Ashley Challenger over the line.

However, Worcester eventually found a way through on 71 minutes when Garside crossed out wide from Eden’s looping pass.

Caldy saw another player sent to the sin-bin two minutes from time as Wilkinson left the field following a high tackle.

And Warriors snatched victory with the clock in the red when Garside collected Will Reed’s pass and scored in the corner.

Worcester are next in action against Nottingham on Saturday, November 15 with kick-off at 5pm at Sixways Stadium.
