WORCESTER Warriors are set to make their return to the pitch after nearly three years away against Ampthill this weekend.
Warriors have made more than 30 signings since the club announced their return to professional rugby in April earlier this year.
Worcester entered administration in September 2022 and submitted a formal expression of interest to join a new Tier 2 league in October last year.
The Rugby Football Union’s (RFU’s) new Tier 2 board selected Warriors to join the newly-established Tier 2 league for the start of the 2025/26 season.
And Warriors are now preparing to travel Ampthill this weekend in the club’s first pre-season friendly.
Worcester head coach, Matt Everard said: “It’s very exciting to name the first Warriors team in a long time – it’s challenging, which is good and I think it always will be.
“Pretty much everyone who’s fit to play is playing in this game.
“Everyone has worked very, very hard across pre-season, physically, working hard to connect and bond and get cohesive with each other.”
Everard has named an extended 34-player squad for the fixture with two different XVs to take to the field in either half.
Fly-half Will Reed will captain the side in the first half with fellow number 10 Tiff Eden to take the armband for the second period.
Warriors added five players to their squad earlier this week.
And all five new additions will feature at some point in the pre-season clash.
Worcester travel to Ampthill on Saturday, September 13 with kick-off at 3pm at Dillingham Park.
