WORCESTER Warriors battled to a 29-7 bonus point victory away at Cornish Pirates to complete a league double over their opponents.

Tries from Siva Naulago, Lloyd Williams, Tim Anstee, Obinna Nkwocha and Juan Gonzalez saw Warriors come away from Mennaye Field with five points.

And the result means Worcester sit second in the Champ Rugby table, three points ahead of Coventry Rugby in fourth.

The game burst into life on four minutes as Cornish flanker Luke Ratcliff received a yellow card for retaliating when held on the floor.

And Worcester scored the game’s first try on 11 minutes when Naulago received Matt Kvesic’s pass out wide and beat several defenders to dot down his first try for the club.

Warriors crossed again six minutes later as Rory Taylor kicked a dropped ball ahead and gathered his own kick before offloading to Williams who burst down the right to score.

The visitors dotted down a third try just one minute before half time when Anstee powered over in the corner to send Worcester into the break with a commanding 17-point lead.

Warriors crossed for a bonus point try two minutes into the second period as Nkwocha finished close to the posts after Will Reed burst through the Pirates defence.

Pirates responded with their only try on 48 minutes when Matty Ward received the ball out wide and ran in unopposed as Arwel Robson added the extras.

However, Warriors scored a fifth try on the hour mark as Gonzalez dotted down in the corner with Reed, who converted two of the away side’s tries, unable to slot the ball between the posts from the touchline.

Tempers boiled over late on as Pirates joint head coach Alan Paver saw red following an altercation with a Worcester player.

Worcester are next in action away at Richmond on Saturday, April 4 with kick-off at 3pm at the Richmond Athletic Ground.
