WORCESTER Cavaliers also suffered defeat in the opening game of their Aviva A League campaign, losing 13-11 to Sale Jets at Heywood Road on Monday.

Sale opened the scoring with a Tom Morton penalty before Andy Short’s try put the visitors ahead.

A converted interception try for Sale’s Nick Scott and kicks apiece for Morton and Cavaliers’ Tiff Eden saw the hosts lead 13-8 at the break.

Eden landed a long range penalty in the second half but ultimately the Sixways outfit could not convert pressure into scores and came away with just a losing bonus point.

Cavaliers take on Northampton Wanderers at Sixways on Monday (7.30pm).
