WORCESTER Wolves have announced the signing of one of the UK’s ‘most exciting’ basketball talents.
The Wolves swooped to sign 6ft 7ins Orlan Jackman to help bolster their new squad as they enter the festive period in second place in the British Basketball League (BBL).
Jackman has recently left CAB Madeira in Portugal to return to the BBL, where he last played for London Lions in 2012 as one of the league’s most impressive rookies.
The explosive forward and guard has an outstanding pedigree with a college career in the United States, spending four years playing in Oklahoma for Seminole State and Oklahoma City University.
He was included in the Great Britain senior squad for the first time in 2013, having previously featured for the GB under-16s and U20s in European competition.
Jackman then signed for Iserjohn Kangeroos in the German Regionaliga for two years, where he led them to the play-offs for promotion to Pro-A in 2015 as their player of the year, averaging 15.9 points per game and 8.1 rebounds.
“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to win silverware in my own country, that’s the dream, and the reality is they are working towards that at Worcester,” said Jackman.
Wolves head coach Paul James said: “I’m delighted we have been able to secure the exciting talent of Orlan Jackman for the remainder of the season.
“He’s a versatile player who can score in many different ways and can play in multiple positions. Orlan will also bring added toughness to the team at both ends of the floor.”
Managing director Mick Donovan said: “There are many qualities Orlan will bring to Worcester, and it’s significant a very talented UK player has opted to play in his home country’s professional league.”
Jackman will make his debut this Friday (December 11) when the Wolves host Leicester Riders at 7.30pm.
