WARRIORS and Valkyries had a combined nine players lift silverware for their respected countries as the RBS 6 Nations came to a close at the weekend.

Worcester centre Ben Te’o came off the bench for England in the 13-9 loss to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday, although the Red Rose did pick up the 6 Nations trophy to make it back-to-back titles.

Te’o played in all five of England’s games and crossed the whitewash against France and Italy.

Meanwhile, fellow Warriors teammate Jaba Bregvadze started for Georgia in their Six Nations B Championship clash against Romania on Sunday, but the Lelos suffered an 8-7 defeat in Bucharest, which meant Romania claimed their first championship title.

Both sides finished on the same points in the standings, but Romania’s slender one-point win in the head-to-head meant they picked up the trophy.

Worcester’s Will Butler started as England under-20s claimed their first Grand Slam since 2011 after a 14-10 victory over Ireland in Dublin on Friday.

Justin Clegg and Joe Morris came off the bench for England, while 17-year-old Ted Hill also played in the tournament.

In Glasgow, Warriors academy back row Tom Dodd scored a sublime interception try for Scotland under-20s in a 38-17 victory over Italy on Friday, which meant they finished the tournament in fifth-place.

In the Women’s Six Nations, Valkyries’ Lydia Thompson and Laura Keates scored as England clinched the Grand Slam with a 34-7 win over Ireland in Dublin on Friday.

Bianca Blackburn and Rochelle Clark also featured as England stormed to the title with five convincing wins.

Valkyries duo Tracy Balmer and Lyndsay O’Donnell played a part in Scotland Women’s 14-12 victory over Italy at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld, on Friday, with Balmer announcing her retirement after winning her 43rd international cap.

Wales Women suffered a 39-19 defeat to France in Brive on Friday, although Worcester’s Shona Powell-Hughes was on the scoresheet for her country who finished in fifth place in the table.
