Mills returns for Jersey trip

FLY HALF Ryan Mills has returned to the starting line-up as Worcester Warriors look to continue their winning streak in Jersey tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

The former Gloucester man is one of five changes to the side which beat Plymouth Albion in their last Greene King IPA Championship clash.

Sam Betty has also been recalled to the side and will be part of a back row which includes new recruit Sam Lewis and skipper GJ van Velze.

Cooper Vuna is still ruled out with an ankle injury meaning Tom Biggs and Sam Smith occupy the flanks with Max Stelling and Andy Symons combining at centre.

Full back Chris Pennell and Charlie Mulchrone retains their places while unchanged second-row sees Mike Williams partner Jonathan Thomas.

In the front-row Ryan Bower and Niall Annett replace Val Rapava Ruskin and Agustin Creevy while Nick Schonert keeps the number three jersey.

Director of rugby Dean Ryan, whose side are on a 23-match winning run, said: “We now know roughly who the core group is but there are still some things we want to see so those selections will be because we want to see more of those players.

“Jersey are well coached. They’ve got a couple of successful players in there and I can only see them getting stronger.

“It’ll be a tough place to go. I haven’t been there before but I know they have a heavy pitch so we have to go and check it out.

“We’ve got better at working out different strategies so we’re not as easy to understand.

“We still have a powerful drive and we’ll make sure it’s in the game but we’re probably better equipped to understand what people are trying to do against us.”

Warriors’ side to face Jersey: Pennell, Smith, Stelling, Symons, Biggs, Mills, Mulchrone, Bower, Annett, Schonert, Williams, Thomas, Betty, Lewis, Van Velze (C)

Replacements: George, Rapava Ruskin, Rees, O’Shea, Arr, Fatiaki, Howard
