FT: Worcester City 0-1 Bradford Park Avenue

Worcester Editorial 11th Jan, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

LIVE updates from our man at Aggborough, Jonny Bonell, where Worcester City continue their Vanarama Conference North campaign against Bradford Park Avenue.

The live updates have now finished.

– Worcester City will wonder quite how they lost this encounter. The majority of the chances fell their way but a series of missed opportunities, the woodwork and great goalkeeping kept them at bay. Chib Chiblaka’s header 11 minutes from time the only difference between the two sides as City fail to find the net again. Their run without a goal now stretches back to December 20. Thanks for following today.

FULL-TIME: WORCESTER CITY 0-1 BRADFORD PARK AVENUE

90min: Bradford repelling everything City are throwing at them here.

4 minutes added on.

86min: Geddes whips in a perfect ball to the back post and Thomas should hit the back of the net but somehow his effort is deflected behind for a corner. Should have been the equaliser.

83min: SUB: Dunkley comes on for Murphy in City’s final change.

More on goal: Boothman worked space for himself on the left and whipped in a tremendous ball for the unmarked Chiblaka to head home past Vaughan.

79min: GOAL: Worcester City 0-1 – Chib Chiblaka

78min: Half a chance for Bradford as Chiblaka gets into the City box but his touch is heavy and Thomas does well to hold off the striker and see the ball out.

77min: Game has turned slightly scrappy now as both sides go for a late goal.

71min: SUB: Colley is replaced by Barraclough as Avenue make their final substitute.

70min: All of City’s pressure could have been undone as Chiblaka tip-toes his way through a static City back line and fires an effort which Vaughan somehow keeps out.

68min: SUB: Weir signals to the bench he can’t continue and is brought off for Wright.

66min: Dean makes a good run down the right and his ball is squared to fellow substitute Boothman who hits it high and wide.

62min: SUB: Nti comes on for Gater in City’s first change.

60min: Dean cuts in from the left but his effort does nothing to trouble Vaughan.

56min: SUB: Dean comes on for Lynch is Bradford’s second change.

54min: Deeney takes aim from 35-yards but his effort flies over.

53min: Yellow card: Colley goes into the book for a late challenge on Jackman.

52min: My word, Danby has just produced a magnificent save to deny Geddes. Symons again does brilliant down the right, his finds Gater whose cross is met by Geddes. The midfielder is about 5 yards out but his header is somehow clawed away by Danby.

51min: Geddes nearly scores a spectacular opener to add to his collection. Vaughan’s long clearance was allowed to bounce and Geddes took the ball on the chest before drilling a half-volley just past the far post.

47min: Haynes whips a dangerous ball into the box which is partially cleared by Ainge only to Jackman whose dipping half volley goes just past the post. Haynes now drives down the right and into the box but his strike is well held by Danby.

45min: SUB: Boothman comes on for Ingleton in Bradford’s first change.

Attendance: 540

– The teams are back out and the second half is underway.

– City completely dominating the chances in this one. Deeney’s deflected effort was fumbled onto his own post by Danby before Jackman drilled an effort against the opposite upright. Bradford look dangerous when going forward, but haven’t tested Vaughan. Worcester have done everything but find the back of the net here.

Half-time: Worcester City 0-0 Bradford Park Avenue

45min: Yellow card: Howarth goes into the box for jumping into Jackman.

43min: Danby keeps his side in the game here. Symons picks out a great ball to find Jackman on the right, his low ball finds Murphy who turned his man inside the six yard box but Danby spread himself to deny the winger. Weir then bursts forward but blazes over.

40min: Gater bursts down the left hand side and into the box but he seemed caught in two minds as whether to shoot or cross. His effort was denied by Danby. Frost now goes down theatrically in the Worcester box but referee awards no penalty or no simulation booking.

38min: Long ball into the box causes confusion in the City box and Chiblaka’s strike was blocked on the line by the diving Haynes. The ball then seemed to be in Vaughan’s control but a mass of players surrounded the City keeper. Ended up with a free-kick to Worcester.

34min: Deeney feeds Jackman who is running in on goal but his sliced effort flies wide of the upright.

30min: Thomas finds himself in the Bradford box and tricks his way towards goal, but the cross-come-shot was comfortably held by Danby. Fairly even possession but Worcester dominating the chances.

26min: Gray whips in a dangerous delivery which just evades everyone and goes behind for a goal-kick.

22min: Symons proving a real handful for the Bradford back-line. He jinks inside Priestly again and sets up a cross which Danby has to tip in the air before grabbing it at the second attempt.

21min: Murphy plays a neat one two with Jackman and the winger charges into the box but the ball wouldn’t sit for him and Danby makes a comfortable save.

18min: WOODWORK: Fabulous football from City as Geddes plays Symons in in the box. The big striker holds the ball up and gives it to Jackman on the edge of the box but his drive cannons back off the post. Gater then blazes the rebound over.

16min: Long ball over the top finds Ingleton but it is a wasteful effort as the striker hammers it over the bar.

14min: Murphy does well on the left to find Geddes but the midfielder slices his shot well wide.

13min: City incredibly close to taking the lead. Symons does brilliant down the right, gets past Priestly and fizzes a ball across the box which just about evades everyone. The ball is partially cleared to Deeney on the edge whose strike takes a slight nick off Colbeck and is fumbled onto his own post by Danby.

11min: Hutchison hits the deck after a heavy collision with Ingleton. Physical contest so far.

10min: Gray steps up but bends the effort over the top.

9min: Chiblaka makes a burst towards the City box and is blocked by Deeney who concedes the free-kick. Dangerous position.

7min: Poor conditions here means the ball is bouncing all over the place when on the deck.

5min: A couple of early touches for debutant Haynes, who has just lifted the ball out of the stadium following a long throw by Gray.

1min: City get the first free-kick of the afternoon. Heeley’s men are kicking from left to right in their traditional blue and white stripes. The visitors sporting a pink/purple number as opposed to the usual green.

KICK OFF

– A minutes silence will be held for two Worcester City supporters who have recently lost their lives.

– The teams are out here and we are about ready for kick-off.

– Carl Heeley hands an immediate debut to new signing Kyle Haynes. The young right back has been brought in from Stourbridge to replace player of the year George Williams. Haynes is one of five changes made to the squad which drew 0-0 at Hednesford on New Year’s Day – City’s last outing. Vaughan, Weir, Murphy and Symons all come back in for Rowe, Dunkley, Veiga and Nti who drop to the bench. Shabir Khan is left out of the 16.

Here are today’s teams:

Worcester City: Nathan Vaughan, Kyle Haynes, Graham Hutchison, Wayne Thomas, Tyler Weir; Connor Gater, Ellis Deeney (C), Danny Jackman; Jordan Murphy, Sean Geddes; Mike Symons SUBS: Nick Wright, Daniel Nti, Jacob Rowe, Tristan Dunkley, Jose Veiga.

Bradford Park Avenue: John Danby, Joe Colbeck, Johnny Lynch, Chris Howarth, Simon Ainge (C), Billy Priestly, Lamin Colley, Dan Gray, Benny Ingleton, Danny Frost, Chib Chiblaka SUBS: Brad Barraclough, Ryan Qualter, Richard Marshall, Luke Dean, Steve Boothman

Referee: Mike D’aguilar

– Clear to see how City have developed over the last 12 months. This time last season, with 22 games gone they had amassed just 17 points. With 21 games played so far they have collected exactly double that (34pts).

– The visitors find themselves just one point above bottom placed Hyde and are in a poor run of form which has seen them lose their last three on the bounce and have won just one league game in the previous nine outings.

– Welcome to Aggborough, the temporary home of the Blue and Whites, where Carl Heeley’s men will be looking to secure themselves another three points with a victory over struggling Bradford Park Avenue.
