VALKYRIES will begin their 2017/18 Tyrrells Premier 15s campaign with a trip to Loughborough Lightning.

Kicking off the new-look league on Saturday, September 16 against Loughborough at Main Pitch, the Sixways side then host back-to-back home games against Bristol Ladies on Saturday, September 23 and Saracens Women on Saturday, September 30.

Over Christmas Valkyries travel to Cleve RFC to take on Bristol Ladies on Saturday, December 16, and Roy Davies’ side wrap up the campaign with the visit of Firwood Waterloo Ladies on Saturday, March 24.

The top four teams from the competition will progress to the semi-finals, which will be played over two legs, before the grand final takes place on Sunday, April 29.

Clubs involved in the tournament will benefit over the next three years from a £2.4million investment from the RFU.

Alongside the Tyrrells Premier 15s competition, a new development league will also be established where each of the ten clubs’ second teams will play in competitive games across the season.

The second teams will also compete in the RFU Women’s Senior Cup, alongside the Women’s Championship North and South XV teams.

WARRIORS Three Pears Academy youngster Nick David has been called up to England under-18s’ 26-man squad for this summer’s three-match tour of South Africa.

The full-back joins academy teammates Beck Cutting, Nick Rigby and James Scott, while Ted Hill has been forced to drop out.

England take on South Africa Schools this Friday in Cape Town, before facing Wales U18s and France U18s.
