Lewis urges teammates to stick together

FLANKER Sam Lewis insists his teammates must pull together and show character if they are to ‘kick on’ in the Aviva Premiership.

The Welshman, who recently returned from a lengthy 18-month spell on the sidelines after having shoulder surgery, believes the Sixways outfit are more than capable of beating any side in the league but must deliver better performances after their two-week European break.

Warriors had bounced back from their dismal Boxing Day defeat to Bristol with an impressive home win against Harlequins on New Year’s Day, but now hover one-point off the bottom of the Premiership after being thumped 55-19 by Gloucester on Saturday at Kingsholm.

“We’re targeting every game and can beat anyone in the league on our day, so hopefully we’ll start getting the right results,” said the 26-year-old.

“This league is pretty tough and it’ll be nice to have a two-week break in the European Challenge Cup, but we want to really kick on and get wins.

“We’ve had some bad luck with injuries this year, but a lot of young guys like Josh Adams and Perry Humphreys have earned their chance and played brilliantly.

“It’s been a while but I’m delighted to be back out there on the pitch with the boys and I’m really enjoying myself. Hopefully I can stay injury free and help us kick on.

“It’s tough being injured for so long. You want to be out there but the main thing is to keep supporting the boys as we’re all in this together,” he added.
