FLANKER Carl Kirwan has committed his future to Warriors by signing a new contract with the club.
The Durham-born player, who has made 24 appearances for the Sixways side since joining in 2015, has been a regular member of the first-team squad over the past year.
After impressing in Warriors’ 2015/16 European Challenge Cup campaign, Kirwan was rewarded with his Premiership debut for the club in February last year and later scored his maiden try in a crucial home win over Sale Sharks just a week later.
The 25-year-old previously played at London Welsh, whom he helped gain promotion to the Aviva Premiership in 2013/14, scoring eight tries in 24 appearances.
Named ‘Supporters Club Player of the Year’ that season, he also skippered the side in their 2014/15 Premiership campaign.
“I’ve really enjoyed the last two seasons at Sixways as part of what is an exciting squad and a great bunch of lads,” said Kirwan.
“The club is moving in the right direction and I want to help us try and progress as a team and work our way up the Premiership table,” he added.
Head coach Carl Hogg said: “We’re delighted Carl has signed a new deal with the club. He shows tremendous professionalism and despite not being a regular in the side when he first arrived at Sixways, Carl used the resource around him to develop and ultimately earned his place in the first-team.
“He has a fantastic work-rate and we’re looking forward to helping him try and reach the top of his game in the coming seasons.”
