INFLUENTIAL scrum-half Francois Hougaard will be out of action for three months after suffering a shoulder injury on international duty with South Africa.
Warriors’ medical department assessed the Springbok on his recent return to Sixways, following his spell in the Rugby Championship and confirmed he will need surgery for a biceps tenodesis and rotator cuff repair.
Hougaard visited specialists following the diagnosis and was given an MRI scan to allow the club to fully understand the extent of the injury, which is understood to rule him out for ten to 12 weeks.
Nick Johnston, Warriors’ high performance director, said: “We’re extremely disappointed Francois returned to the club with an undiagnosed injury.
“As a club, player welfare is our priority and we’ll be using every resource to ensure Francois has access to the right surgeon and that he receives the highest level of support during his rehabilitation.”
