Heeley "let down" with midfielder's departure

CARL Heeley has admitted he felt “let down” after Ebby Nelson-Addy decided to leave his Worcester City side just five games into the season.

The tireless midfielder opted to re-join Brackley Town on Friday (August 29) and went straight into the Saints’ starting XI in their 2-1 defeat to Chorley the following day.

Nelson-Addy, who started his career at Aston Villa, was on trial at Woking in the summer but was offered a deal by Heeley on the eve of the new campaign after The Cards failed to reignite their interest in him.

“I’m obviously disappointed Ebby chose to leave,” Heeley said. “Certainly after the way we were with him in pre-season.

“He was on trial at Woking pretty much the whole of pre-season and we signed him the day before the season kicked off when he didn’t get a deal there, so it is disappointing he’s chosen to leave so early on.

“I understand his reasons – that it is closer to home – and although I am disappointed and feel a bit let down, I have been in the game too long to fall out with players, so we wish him all the best of luck and we move on.”

Despite the departure of Nelson-Addy, the Blue and Whites deservedly claimed the scalps of early league leaders North Ferriby United on Saturday (August 30) with a 2-1 win.

Daniel Nti grabbed both goals and Heeley said he was pleased now all three of his strikers have found the back of the net.

“Strikers do go through baron spells,” he added. “But you just have to keep believing in yourself, keep making the correct runs and getting yourself in goalscoring opportunities and eventually a goal will come sooner or later.

“Its good news for Dan and he’s certainly glad to be off the mark.”
