MANAGER Carl Heeley has admitted that, despite his Worcester City side’s impressive run of form last year, he felt they could have done better.
The Blue and Whites ended a memorable 2014, which saw them beat Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena, reach the FA Cup second round and propel themselves into play-off contention, with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Midlands rivals Tamworth.
But the City boss said after coming so far last year he got ‘greedy’ and was keen for his team to kick on and make 2015 another year to savour.
When asked about the last 12 months, Heeley said: “I am delighted how it has gone but you do get greedy and you want more.
“Once you have got yourselves into a good position and you lose games of football you don’t think you should lose that is always frustrating.
“If you get to the point where you think I am not bothered then it is time to pack the game in, but as well as we have done we could have done better.”
Heeley also reiterated his desire to bring in a replacement for full back George Williams, who left the club to join Barnsley, despite both Tyler Weir and Graham Hutchison proving able deputies.
“It caught us on the hop losing George Williams,” he added. “But he’s gone into League One so he is a big loss for us but it is great for the lad.
“We have just got to go and sign another player now to replace him, but over this period that is incredible tough, it is hard to get people in because everyone is in the same position, you are all playing lots of games.
“But I am sure we will get one.”
