Gold on the game - Falcons

Aaron Wise 31st Aug, 2017

The new season is nearly upon us as Gold prepares to steer Warriors in what hopes to be an improved campaign on last year – and the couple of years prior.

There is optimism in the air with the Sixways outfit having brought in big-name signings such as Peter Stringer and David Denton, so can the club go one step further this season?

First up is a tricky trip to the North East to take on Dean Richards’ Falcons and Gold knows it will take an almighty effort for Worcester to come away with their first Premiership win on the road since March, 2016.

Newcastle had a decent season last year having finished eighth with 49 points – 16 more then Warriors.

But what has Gold made of Newcastle’s recruitment this summer?

The last time the two sides met at Kingston Park was back in April where the hosts edged a narrow 16-14 victory.

What did Gold make of that last encounter?

Whether Warriors get off the ground running or fall to yet another away defeat, after a long off-season, we are just one-day from finding out.
