RISING star Sean Geddes will be hoping his incredible social media success will spur him and Worcester City on as they bid to spring another FA Cup shock at Scunthorpe United on Sunday.

The midfield maestro has impressed immensely since his move from Stourbridge back in September and tops the Blue and Whites’ scoring charts with nine goals.

His brace in the historic 2-1 FA Cup victory over Coventry caught the attention of the national media but it was his ‘rabona’ in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Barrow which has truly put his name up in lights.

With 62 minutes on the clock, the former Manchester United trainee turned his man in the box and hooked his right foot behind his standing left leg to chip the ball over the despairing reach of the goalkeeper.

A social media video of the goal has been viewed more than 1.4 million times and has been featured across all the major platforms including Sky Sports, BBC and Eurosport.

It has even been lauded as far afield as Germany and Turkey.

Unsurprisingly, City players took to social media to praise the strike. Defender George Williams said: “Watch @geddes20 goal today… The best goal I’ve ever seen!! Unbelievable tekkers!! #Worldy.”

Michael Taylor also said: “I need to call Carl Heeley and the chairman Mr Anthony Hampson to make sure Sean Geddes has a £1m price tag on his head lol.

“As I said you lot are lucky I didn’t score that goal lol I would of announced my retirement from the game with immediate effect!”

Tyler Weir added: “The funny thing is @geddes20 tries them in training and gets nowhere near them, buzzing for you son!”

Players and fans alike will be hoping Geddes’ form continues into Sunday’s crunch FA Cup second round tie at Scunthorpe. Worcester have sold out their entire allocation for the game and will be looking to spring another surprise after their first round exploits.

The game at Glanford Park is a 2pm kick-off.
