WORCESTER City surrendered an early lead in a 3-1 home defeat against Real Bedford.

An early strike from Kyle Belmonte put City ahead only for Josh Allen to draw the visitors level just before the half-hour mark.

And second-half goals from Lewis Hilliard and Archie Jones condemned Worcester to defeat at Sixways Stadium.

The result means City sit 18th in the Southern League Premier Central table, outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Chris Cornes’ side made the perfect start as Belmonte lashed a shot into left side of the net from 20-yards out with the game just four minutes old.

However, the visitors equalised on 29 minutes when Allen finished into an empty net from close range after City failed to cut out a ball from the right.

And Bedford completed the turnaround four minutes after the break as Hilliard fired a shot into the ground and into the left corner of the goal following a corner from the right.

The visitors sealed the points on 69 minutes when Jones finished past City goalkeeper Harley Price following a rapid counter attack.

Worcester are next in action against Alvechurch on Tuesday, September 23 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Sixways.
