WORCESTER City drew a blank against Alvechurch for the third time this season after losing 2-0 against their managerless rivals.

Goals either side of half time from Szhem Whyte-Hall and Callum Sullivan condemned City to back-to-back defeats in the league at Lye Meadow.

Worcester failed to score against Church for the third time this campaign after drawing a blank against their Worcestershire rivals in the FA Trophy and the reverse league meeting.

The result means City sit ninth in the Southern League Premier Central table, five points outside of the play-off places.

Worcester went close early on when Liam Lockett’s dipping effort went inches over the crossbar.

And Zac Guinan then drove the ball across the face of goal with his teammates just unable to tap home at the back post.

However, Church broke the deadlock on 39 minutes when Whyte-Hall fired home on the rebound after Harley Price kept out the scorer’s initial effort.

And the home side doubled their lead five minutes after half time as Sullivan found the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Worcester are next in action against Royston Town on Saturday, November 29 with kick-off at 3pm at Sixways Stadium.
