LIAM Lockett scored a late brace as Worcester City produced a stunning comeback to draw 3-3 away at unbeaten league leaders Quorn.
Lockett completed a remarkable three-goal comeback four minutes from time after also netting earlier in the second half at Farley Way.
That came after Jordan Clarke, Ryan Beswick and a Haydn Whitcombe own goal saw Quorn race into a three-goal lead before Elliott Hartley reduced the deficit.
The result means Worcester sit third in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, 12 points behind leaders Quorn who have a game in-hand.
The game took place amidst Storm Darragh at strong winds and heavy rain swept across the country.
Quorn broke the deadlock after 12 minutes when Zac Goodson curled a free-kick into the box and Clarke volleyed home from close range.
And the home side won a penalty nine minutes later as Goodson went down in the box under a challenge from Charlie Wise and the referee pointed to the spot.
Beswick stepped up to coolly roll the resulting penalty into the bottom left corner, sending Whitcombe the wrong way.
Quorn extended their lead in bizarre fashion on 31 minutes as Goodson cut the ball back to Clarke who saw his initial shot deflect towards goal.
However, Hayden Reeves miscued his attempted clearance which ricocheted off Whitcombe and into the Worcester net in comical fashion.
City reduced the deficit six minutes later when Hartley rose superbly to head Lockett’s cross back across goal and into the bottom left corner.
The visitors improved after the break as Adam Mace curled a free-kick narrowly over the crossbar before Kyle Belmonte fired wide.
And Quorn goalkeeper Tom Allsopp then acrobatically pushed Hartley’s hanging cross from the right behind for a corner.
City remained on top as Lockett collected the ball from a throw-in from the left, turned his marker and saw his low shot saved by Allsopp at the near post.
Worcester eventually cut the deficit further on 78 minutes when Lockett coolly lifted the ball over Allsopp after good work from substitute Zac Guinan and Hartley.
Quorn almost sealed the points as Reeves produced a superb headed goalline clearance before Goodson headed the follow-up against the post.
However, City stunned the home side on 86 minutes when Lockett pounced on Goodson’s loose touch before curling a low shot into the bottom right corner from 20-yards out.
And Worcester had a chance to win the game at the death as Allsopp made a flying save to keep out Nathan Hayward’s header from Lockett’s corner.
Worcester are next in action against Grantham Town on Saturday, December 14 with kick-off at 3pm at Claines Lane.
