WORCESTER City came from behind to beat struggling Barwell 2-1 in the club’s first home game for a month.

An early goal from Anthony Dwyer put Barwell ahead only for Charlie Lutz and Paul Downing to strike either side of half time for City at Sixways Stadium.

Worcester returned to Sixways following a run of four consecutive away fixtures.

However, Barwell broke the deadlock after just seven minutes when a lofted through ball released Dwyer one-on-one and the striker coolly finished past Sam Kane.

City survived a scare soon after with Kane only able to parry a dangerous ball into the box from the left before Charlie Wise cleared the ball to safety.

The home side’s first meaningful effort of the half saw Connor Stanley lash a shot wide from just outside the penalty area.

Barwell spurned a glorious chance to double their lead when Dan Jarvis jinked his way into the penalty area from a short corner only to poke a shot straight at Kane.

However, Worcester drew level in first-half injury time when Lutz received Harry Burns’ pass and drove towards the box before firing a shot into the net via the aid of the post from 20-yards out.

City almost completed the turnaround moments later as Finn Osborn clawed Sweeney’s effort behind following a long throw from the left.

And Worcester took the lead after the break on 61 minutes when Downing forced home a corner from a right at the back post after Osborn missed his attempted punch clear.

City should have sealed the points late on only for Osborn to deny Lutz from close range at the death after Sweeney broke clear down the right.
