ZAC Guinan scored a stunner as Worcester City continued their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory against Bishops Cleeve.

Guinan doubled City’s lead in injury time at the end of the second half after Teddy Rowe’s header put the visitors in front at Kayte Lane.

City made a bright start as both Liam Lockett and Nathan Hayward went close to opening the scoring.

At the other end, the Bishops Cleeve full-back fired a shot into the side netting in a lively start to the contest.

Chris Cornes’ side went close again later in the half as Rowe pulled an effort wide before Lockett forced the Bishops Cleeve goalkeeper to tip his effort behind for a corner.

City continued to probe as Kyle Belmonte curled a shot wide from outside the penalty area.

However, Worcester stopper Haydn Whitcombe then produced a smart save low down to keep out a curling effort from the edge of the penalty box.

City almost broke the deadlock at the end of the first half only for Rowe to see his effort hit the inside of the post and bounce to safety.

The home goalkeeper made a crucial save early in the second half to deny Hayward.

However, Worcester eventually took the lead on 59 minutes when Rowe rose highest to head home.

Bishops Cleeve searched for an equaliser as the hosts smashed a shot against the outside of the post.

And Whitcombe also made a string of saves late on to keep Worcester in front.

Guinan sealed victory for City in the first minute of injury time with a stunning effort from 30-yards out which left the keeper with no chance.

Worcester are next in action against AFC Kempsey in the Herefordshire FA Invitational Cup on Friday, August 1 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
