FELIX Miles scored a late winner as Worcester City battled to a hard-fought 2-1 victory at high-flying Long Eaton United.
Miles secured the points for City on 73 minutes after Liam Lockett opened the scoring only for James Shaw to draw Long Eaton level at Grange Park.
The result means Worcester sit sixth in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, outside of the play-off places on goal difference.
After a goalless first half, City broke the deadlock on 54 minutes when Lockett fired home from 30-yards out after Long Eaton goalkeeper Lewis King inadvertently cleared the ball into the midfielder’s path when off his line.
However, Long Eaton equalised two minutes later as Shaw finished Owen Betts’ low ball across the box from close range.
City reclaimed the lead on 73 minutes when Miles collected a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area before driving into the box and curling a shot into the right corner of the goal.
Worcester are next in action against Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Claines Lane.
