KYLE Belmonte scored a hat-trick as Worcester City romped to a 5-0 victory against Grantham Town.

After Felix Miles opened the scoring, Belmonte struck twice to put the home side in command at Claines Lane.

And Zac Guinan sent City into the break with a four-goal lead before Belmonte completed the scoring and his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

The result means Worcester sit second in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, 12 points behind leaders Quorn who have a game in-hand.

City made the perfect start when Miles volleyed Adam Mace’s cross from the left into the ground and beyond the reach of Grantham goalkeeper Curtis Hall after just two minutes.

The home side doubled their lead on 24 minutes when Hall’s attempted clearance ricocheted into the path of Belmonte who finished into an empty net.

And Belmonte doubled his tally for the game two minutes before half time as the midfielder lashed a first time effort into the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Worcester sealed the points in first-half injury time when Guinan headed in Mace’s cross from the left at the back post unmarked from six-yards out.

City won a penalty in the closing stages after substitute Dylan Hart intercepted Aj Adelekan’s poor pass and the latter fouled the former as he raced into the box.

And Belmonte stepped up to fire the resulting penalty into the left corner of the goal to complete his hat-trick despite Hall diving the right way.

Worcester are next in action against Anstey Nomads on Saturday, December 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Cropston Road.
