Fan's View: Teamwork holds the key for Warriors

Worcester Editorial 15th Jan, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

WE ARE halfway through the regular Championship season and based on the last three games we seem to be pulling together a competitive squad ready for the play-offs.

Having lost the first game of the season we have gone from strength to strength, running in nine try bonus point wins from our next ten games – ending with a ten-try victory over Cornish Pirates last weekend.

We have scored more points (404), conceded less points (180) and racked up more bonus points (10) than any other team in the league, with only Bristol, sitting in first place, with more wins than us.

It has been reported in the press that, as per last season, Bristol have recruited some key additions to their squad and will be introducing these players in time for the play-off rounds of the season.

Why have Worcester not declared the same tactic? Personally, I think it is because we do not need any new players to strengthen this squad.

The main reason being that the Monday night squad, who lost to Saracens Storm in the A League final, will now man for man be knocking on the door both asking Dean Ryan for a place in the first XV and pushing each of the current incumbents in each and every training session.

We are certainly building an elite team, in an elite environment and progressing well through each of the competitions put before us.

If the play-off final goes as it did last season then I can see the best team winning promotion, not necessarily the team with the ‘best’ players.
