Fan's view: It's business as usual off the field

IT’S THAT time of the year where many coaches talk about ‘the business end of the season’.

Upcoming home games against London Wasps, Exeter Chiefs and Gloucester, along with Newcastle Falcons away, will certainly determine where Warriors will be plying their trade next season.

But this is also a time to see how the club will support its fans in tough economic times too.

This year, there have been a number of special offers to entice new supporters, with discounted tickets and other special deals to fill Sixways.

However, what about the dedicated fan who buys a season ticket, parting with their money up front?

Yes, the direct debit scheme has been a bonus and offering a free season ticket to the U10s shows a commitment to younger fans.

Perhaps extending this to all children of primary school age, with a cheaper season ticket for high school students may develop the future fan base?

Away day offers, such as the £10 ticket to Newcastle, could also increase the travelling support in the hunt for that elusive win on the road.

It’s also good to see the Sixways Store now offering discounted shirts. I think this year’s design is possibly the best since the Canterbury shirts of the early 2000s. Although it will probably be remembered for the wrong reasons – hopefully not the season when Warriors were winless.

There is still a possibility, though, that Worcester can avoid the drop and that starts with the fans getting behind their team on Friday.
