Dowsett: I already feel right at home

Worcester Editorial 16th Nov, 2016   0

NEW ARRIVAL Michael Dowsett admits he already feels at home in Worcester and is itching to secure the Warriors’ number nine jersey for himself.

The Australian, who arrived to bolster the scrum-half position and fill in for the absent Francois Hougaard, scored a début try against Bristol in the Anglo-Welsh Cup and is keen to continue demonstrating his rapid movement with the ball.

The former Super Rugby player has also relished being thrown in at the deep since his arrival.

“It’s been a bit of a rushed introduction, but I’m here to play as much rugby as possible so it’s exactly what I wanted,” said the 24-year-old.

“It was nice to brush off the cobwebs early on against Bristol and bag a try. This new environment provides a new challenge, so I need to adapt as quick as I can.

“Being thrown in at the deep end so early on is the way to do it. It’s a learning curve and I’m just glad the club have given me the opportunity to play as soon as I arrived.

“My dad’s parents are English, so that’s where the move came about. I’ve played in Australia, New Zealand and now England. Rugby is your ticket around the world, it’s the nature of the modern day player.

“I already feel at home in Worcester. The focus now is to be a part of the first-team in every match. I just need to polish my game slightly by implementing my pace where I can.

“The crowd was vocal under the floodlights on Friday night against Bristol, so I’m sure it will be the same against Northampton Saints on Friday night,” he added
