Defender Haynes released by City

Worcester Editorial 13th Aug, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

KYLE Haynes has been released from Worcester City following the defender’s disappointment at being left out of the starting line-up in the season opener.

The promising full-back was left on the bench for City’s trip up to Gainsborough Trinity after being advised the holiday he had taken in the last week of pre-season had cost him his place.

Haynes then told the club he wanted to play a month of games at Redditch United on a dual registration basis until required at the Blue and Whites.

And following Tyler Weir’s head injury in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Tamworth, joint manager Carl Heeley informed Haynes he could now stake his claim for a place in the starting line-up against Lowestoft Town this weekend.

However Haynes has opted to stay with Redditch.

Heeley said: “The reaction we received from Kyle was that he wanted to stay at Redditch in favour of taking hos opportunity at Worcester City which is very disappointing for us.

“After discussing with Matt (Gardiner) and the rest of the management team, we feel stronly the squad having everyone 100 per cent focussed and pulling in the same direction override the feelings and actions of one player, no matter who that may be.

“Therefore we have taken the decision to release Kyle and let him pursue his preferred option of playing his football elsewhere.”
