December fixture pile up awaits City

Worcester Editorial 16th Nov, 2019   0

WORCESTER CITY chiefs are sizing up the prospect of eight games in 25 days in the run-up to Christmas after another Saturday Midland Premier Division clash fell victim to the weather.

A late postponement at Highgate United on Saturday (November 9) left City forced to put their feet up again a fortnight after their trip to Tividale was also washed out.

The Blue and Whites were set to travel to Sporting Khalsa last night (Tuesday) in the MFL Cup to kick off a run of 12 games between now and Boxing Day.

Saturday’s clash at the Victoria Ground with Racing Club Warwick will be followed by another ‘home’ game with Lye Town next Wednesday (November 20).

December kicks off with the FA Vase third round tie with Shepshed Dynamo at the Victoria Ground on Sunday, December 1 with the re-arranged clash with Tividale just 48 hours later.

Haughmond will be the visitors to the Victoria Ground on Boxing Day to end a run of fixtures which has forced City chiefs to push a revised date for the postponed Highgate clash to January.

Following a request from both sides, Midland Football League bosses have agreed the fixture can be rearranged for January due the fixture pile-up facing both clubs.
