WORCESTERSHIRE’S promising pace bowler Jack Home has earned his first England Young Lions under-19s call-up as part of a three-week training camp in South Africa.
The 18-year-old will be part of an 18-strong party training in Stellenbosch from November 25 to December 16.
The camp is in preparation for three youth ODIs and two youth tests in South Africa during January and early February next year.
England men’s under-19 head coach, Mike Yardy, said: “It’s an exciting winter for this group of players. Firstly, a training camp to develop individual skills and be very clear on a style of play.
“This is then followed by a competitive series versus South Africa in both white and red ball cricket.”
Home, part of Worcestershire’s academy for four years, made a big impact for the Rapids in the One-Day Cup.
He picked up 16 wickets in five appearances including 6-51 in the away win over Derbyshire, the best List A figures by a Worcestershire bowler for 19 years.
Home also appeared in one T20 Blast and two County Championship matches and in September signed a three year contract with Worcestershire.
He also has potential as a batter and scored 29 in helping Tom Taylor put on 65 for the ninth wicket against Warwickshire in the Championship match at New Road.
