WORCESTERSHIRE CCC will begin the campaign with three away matches following the release of next season’s County Championship and One-Day Cup fixtures.

The Pears start the season with trips to Somerset (April 4), Yorkshire (April 11) and Essex (April 18).

Worcestershire then play three of their next four matches at New Road before the first block of red-ball cricket concludes in late May.

Durham are the first visitors to New Road on April 25 before the Pears head to Sussex (May 9).

And Worcestershire then host Essex (16 May) and local rivals Warwickshire (23 May) in back-to-back home fixtures.

All seven games in the opening block of the County Championship season will begin on a Friday.

Championship cricket will continue through the summer, with two rounds of matches scheduled for both June and July and three more in September.

And reigning champions Surrey visit New Road on June 22.

Worcestershire enjoy home advantage in two of their final three fixtures, including the season finale against Sussex on September 24.

The Pears will play five counties twice – Essex, Durham, Sussex, Warwickshire and Hampshire – and will face Somerset, Yorkshire, Surrey and Nottinghamshire only once.

Worcestershire earned promotion to Division One in 2023 and secured a sixth-place finish last term – their best since the Championship split into two divisions in 2000.

Pears opener, Jake Libby, said: “We had a lot of positive stats from last summer about staying up, and it’s clear we achieved a lot,” Libby said. “The challenge now is to establish ourselves as a Division One team.

“We’ve proven we belong here, but it’s about finding consistency and continuing to improve as a group.”

Worcestershire also discovered their One-Day Cup fixtures with only Derbyshire, Gloucestershire and Glamorgan remaining from last year’s opponents.

Nottinghamshire, Essex, Hampshire, Leicestershire and Surrey all join an updated group stage for the 2025 tournament.

Worcestershire will play eight matches in 19 days during August, with home games against Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Glamorgan, and Surrey.

The Rapids reached the quarter-finals last season while Libby set a Worcestershire record with 526 runs in the tournament

Libby added: “It was a great effort to reach the quarter-finals given the setbacks we faced.

“Young players like Jack Home, Tom Hinley and Fateh Singh stepped up brilliantly alongside our senior squad members. Having reached the latter stages in the last two years, we’ll be aiming to go even further this season.”
