WORCESTERSHIRE CCC slumped to a nine-wicket County Championship defeat against defending champions Surrey.
The Pears were all out for just 125 in their second innings after posting 214 in their first innings at New Road.
Surrey posted 291 all out in their first innings and needed just 49 runs for victory after quickly dismissing the Pears.
And the reigning champions took just 15 overs to reach the required total with nine wickets to spare.
Worcestershire won the toss and elected to bat as openers Gareth Roderick (10) and Jake Libby (28) helped the Pears reach 70-2.
However, the home side slipped to 87-5 with Kashif Ali (0) run out while Henry Nicholls (31) and Adam Hose (9) both departed.
A crucial half-century from Matthew Waite (68) helped boost Worcestershire’s total with Ethan Brookes (11) next to be dismissed.
And some tail order runs from Fateh Singh (26 not out) and Jacob Duffy (10) saw the Pears pass the 200-run mark.
Surrey made a commanding start with the bat in reply as openers Ryan Patel (61) and Dom Sibley (73) both managed half-centuries.
Ben Allison (5-44) eventually broke up the 87-run partnership with the wicket of Patel.
However, Rory Burns (34) helped Surrey reach 160-2 before Duffy (1-61) claimed his only wicket of the innings.
Waite (1-59) then bowled Sam Curran (8) before Allison returned to trap Sibley LBW which sparked a mini-collapse.
Surrey slipped from 195-4 to 197-6 as Allison bowled Will Jacks (0) for a duck just two balls after he dismissed Sibley.
And Allison struck again in his next over as he trapped Mitchell Santner (0) LBW.
Dan Lawrence (52) and Jordan Clark (34) led the Surrey recovery before Tom Taylor (3-37) accounted for both batters in the same over.
However, Surrey took a 77-run lead into Worcestershire’s second innings as the Pears endured a torrid time with the bat.
Opener Roderick (4) fell inside the first over with Nicholls (0) quick to follow as both batters fell to the bowling of Nathan Smith (6-38)
And the wickets continued to tumble as Matthew Fisher (4-47) accounted for both Ali (12) and Libby (20).
The only meaningful partnership of the Worcestershire innings saw Hose (40) and Allison (27) combine at the crease.
However, Smith claimed the scalp of Allison which sparked a dramatic collapse as the Pears lost their final six wickets for the addition of just 13 runs.
Smith and Fisher ripped through Worcestershire’s lower order as only four Pears batters reached double figures with the home side all out in just 36 overs.
Surrey cruised to victory in 15 overs as Patel (35) scored the bulk of the runs while Singh (1-33) claimed the only wicket.
Worcestershire are next in action against Hampshire on Sunday, June 29 with the game to begin on 11am at the Utilita Bowl.
