WORCESTERSHIRE CCC have announced the signing of spinner Fateh Singh on a permanent three-year contract.

Singh impressed on loan from Nottinghamshire in the One-Day Cup for the Pears last season and finished as the club’s second highest wicket-taker with 15 scalps in just eight matches.

The 20-year-old helped the Rapids reach the quarter-finals of the competition and finished with figures of 4-52 against Somerset.

Singh said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to sign this contract and be back with Worcestershire long term, I had such a great experience with the club last summer.

“Playing regularly and contributing with wickets as part of a young attack was very rewarding. I was made to feel so welcome, and I found a strong rhythm with the ball. With several players out injured, everyone stepped up, which was brilliant to see.

“I’m excited to be back at a club known for nurturing young talent, and I hope to follow in the footsteps of players like Jake Libby, who has thrived since joining from Nottinghamshire.

“I’m committed to continuing my development and aiming to make an impact.”

Worcestershire CEO, Ashley Giles, added: “We’re delighted to secure Fateh’s signing, which is a crucial step as we continue to build our squad.

“Fateh demonstrated his potential last summer in the One Day Cup, and strengthening our spin department has been a priority.

“We are putting together a team capable of competing at the highest level and building on last season’s successes.”

Singh also showcased his potential with the bat after scoring a brisk 60 against Durham at New Road.

He has represented England 11 times at under-19s level.

Singh made his first-class debut on loan at Northamptonshire in Division Two of the County Championship at the end of last season.
