WORCESTERSHIRE CCC have signed Pakistan international bowler Khurram Shahzad on a deal which will start from next month.
Shahzad will be available to play in all formats until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old medium fast bowler has taken 20 wickers in six test matches for Pakistan on the international stage.
Shahzad said: “Joining a club like Worcestershire and getting the chance to enhance my skills, is something I am really excited by.
“I have always had ambitions to play in England, so this was a chance I was desperate to take.
“There is a lot of history at the club, but I am ready to get involved as soon as I can and hopefully help the team have a strong second-half of the season.
“I can’t wait to get started and hopefully contribute across all the different formats.”
Shahzad recently featured in the Pakistan Super League, representing Quetta Gladiators, who he helped reach the PSL Final.
Worcestershire head coach, Alan Richardson added: “Khurram is a fantastic signing for the club, we are thrilled to have someone with his experience and skillset on board with us.
“Not only will he give us tremendous option with his ability to swing the ball and bowl in excess of 80mph on a regular basis – his experience around the dressing room with some of the younger bowlers will be invaluable.
“We always look to strengthen in the right areas, but importantly, with the right people that will fit our environment.
“I have no doubts he will be a really positive asset to us, so we look forward to his arrival and helping him to hit the ground running.”
Shahzad will be available for selection from July 4 when the Rapids take on Yorkshire Vikings in the T20 Blast at Headingley.
